HOW TO GET HERE AND HOW TO GET HOME

It is recommended, but not required, that campers and their families travel to camp in a private vehicle.  We love this opportunity to say hello to you and allow your camper to say their proper good-byes!
However, we will provide transportation from the airport to camp on opening day and to the airport on closing day.

Take Exit 5 (Tuxedo/Flat Rock) off of Highway 25.  Make a left onto NC 225/Greenville Highway. Proceed north towards Flat Rock.  Turn left onto Little River Road. Proceed two and two-tenths miles to Lake Falls Road. Turn left here and proceed four-tenths of a mile to the camp. You will see the entrance on the right.

Campers are discouraged from driving themselves to camp. We prefer to have an adult with every camper upon their arrival to camp.  However, if your family has a transportation need that requires a teen driving themselves, we can make an accommodation if it is cleared with Camp Director prior to camp.

By Plane

The Asheville Regional Airport (AVL) is located 25 minutes from camp and the Greenville Spartanburg International Airport (GSP) is approximately 45 minutes away from TAW. Both airports have rental car agencies available.

ARRIVAL
For campers who are flying, we provide a shuttle service to and from the Asheville, NC airport (AVL) and the Greenville/Spartanburg, SC airport (GSP). We cannot accommodate travel from other airports. In making your daughter’s plane reservations, allow the flight arrival time to be between the hours of 9:00 AM and 4:00 PM. Please consult the camp office at (828) 692-4251 or email This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. if you are having difficulty finding a time that meets our criteria.
Your camper will be met at the airport as they depart their plane by camp personnel wearing Camp Ton-A-Wandah Staff apparel and then escorted to the camp vehicle. If your airline requires a name of an individual picking your camper up for the unaccompanied minor form, please use “Camp Ton-A-Wandah” as this name. If the airline does not accept this, you may call our camp office a few days prior to your arrival to ask for a specific individual. We DO NOT make transportation arrangements until that time.  Your camper should carry a list of phone numbers, including Camp Ton-A-Wandah’s number with her as she flies. We will telephone you when your camper arrives.

DEPARTURE
On closing day, all campers check out of camp between the hours of 10:00am and 11:30am. Please schedule your departure flight between the hours of 8:00am and 1:00pm. For campers who are flying, we provide a shuttle service to and from the Asheville, NC airport (AVL) and the Greenville/Spartanburg, SC airport (GSP). We cannot accommodate travel from other airports. Our camp staff will go through security with your camper and stay with them until the plane actually takes off.  Our staff will call parents/guardians when your camper is in the air.
For departure flights, please have any baggage fees paid for prior to arriving for camp. Campers ages 7-15 must travel with an Unaccompanied Minor Form purchased at the time reservations are made. Please prepay for this service as well. Any fees not paid in advance will be covered by Camp Ton-A-Wandah. These fees will then be charged automatically to your credit card on file and a service charge of $20 will be added to your account.
Departure information must be sent to us one week prior to camp starting. Please send the following information to camp:
  • Airline Tickets

  • Proof of Baggage Payment

  • Unaccompanied Minor Form

  • Name, Phone Number, and Address of the individual who will be picking them up from the airport

  • Extra cash if needed

Round trip tickets, passports, money, and Unaccompanied Minor forms will be collected and placed in the camp safe until departure.

Transportation Form

Once you have determined how you will be traveling to and from camp, it is very important that you let us know how your camper is arriving to camp and who is bringing her and picking her up.
TRANSPORTATION FORM: There is a form on your Camp In Touch account (or on the Campanion App) under Forms and Documents called Transportation.  Please log in and complete this information.  If this information should change at any time, please update your transportation information or call the camp office to make this change.  We must have this information on file at camp to ensure that your camper arrives safely as expected and departs with the appropriate guardian, family member or friend.
Please only check the airport option if your camper requires transportation to or from the airport. If you are driving your camper to camp after flying in or you are picking your camper up from camp and flying out, please choose the car option.
