NINA MÉNDEZ-MARTÍ
- Photography & Social Media Coordinator
Hi! My name is Carolina Méndez-Martí, but everyone calls me Nina! I was born in 1983 in Puerto Rico. I received a BFA from Syracuse University, a masters from EFTI Photography School in Madrid, a Scholarship to École Nationale Supérieure de la Photographie in Arles, France and an MFA from International Center of Photography-Bard College. I see life through a camera lens, and then it all comes together and makes sense.
I have dedicated my professional career to Art Education by working in various museums and art entities such as Studio in a School, Museo del Barrio, Brooklyn Children's Museum, Children's Museum of Manhattan, Abrons Art Center (NYC); Museo de Arte de Arte de PR, Museo de Arte Contemporáneo and Museo de Arte y Diseño de Miramar (PR). I have also lived, worked and exhibited my art work in Spain, France, Germany, California, New York City, Chicago and her native Puerto Rico.
Most importantly, I was a camper at Ton-A-Wandah from when I was 6 years old to when I was 15; Iwas chief and co-chief of her nation and won the Goofus & Doodle award for best camper. Ton-A-Wandah will always be my happy place. It was where I discovered myself as a girl and can't wait to go back to define myself as an adult and share my creativity.
