Program Staff

Hello all!  I am Kristin Finley and I live in Apollo Beach Florida. My daughter Carly is a current counselor and has come to TAW for 13 Years.  I was head staff for seven years and love being at camp!  I am a retired elementary school teacher and enjoy teaching creativity now to include cooking, sewing, crafts and even book clubs.  Fun fact I never read the Harry Potter series until recently, and I am a Hufflepuff! In my spare time I enjoy kayaking, reading, pickleball, tennis, yoga and taking walks.  I look forward to spending summer in my favorite mountain home!

BRANDAIS LAWING - Arts & Crafts Coordinator

Hello darlings! I am Brandais Lawing and I was born and raised in Hendersonville, North Carolina. I absolutely love being at camp! This year I will be in charge of arts and crafts. We are going to do a lot of unique and camp worthy art activities so bring your imagination! My favorite thing about camp is the sounds. Whether its the birds singing or the campers singing, the sound of the water flowing or the s'mores roasting, I love all the sounds of camp. I can't wait to meet all of our beautiful campers this summer at TAW!

Hello Ton-A-Wandah family!
I'm Marci and I am so glad to be spending my 8th year working at TAW as one of the C.I.T. coordinators. I spend the offseason working part-time at a therapeutic boarding school in the Asheville area and taking my dog Freya on long walks. Our favorite hike is currently the Cedar Rock loop in Dupont state forest. I feel passionate that camp can be an important part of youth development and cannot wait to spend summer with each and every one of you!

NINA MÉNDEZ-MARTÍ - Photography & Social Media Coordinator

Hi! My name is Carolina Méndez-Martí, but everyone calls me Nina! I was born in 1983 in Puerto Rico. I received a BFA from Syracuse University, a masters from EFTI Photography School in Madrid, a Scholarship to École Nationale Supérieure de la Photographie in Arles, France and an MFA from International Center of Photography-Bard College. I see life through a camera lens, and then it all comes together and makes sense.

I have dedicated my professional career to Art Education by working in various museums and art entities such as Studio in a School, Museo del Barrio, Brooklyn Children's Museum, Children's Museum of Manhattan, Abrons Art Center (NYC); Museo de Arte de Arte de PR, Museo de Arte Contemporáneo and Museo de Arte y Diseño de Miramar (PR). I have also lived, worked and exhibited my art work in Spain, France, Germany, California, New York City, Chicago and her native Puerto Rico.

Most importantly, I was a camper at Ton-A-Wandah from when I was 6 years old to when I was 15; Iwas chief and co-chief of her nation and won the Goofus & Doodle award for best camper. Ton-A-Wandah will always be my happy place. It was where I discovered myself as a girl and can't wait to go back to define myself as an adult and share my creativity.
