The life of a Camp Counselor is a very busy one, so time off is both necessary and important! Cabin Counselors at Camp Ton-A-Wandah have six breaks during a camp session. Two are "long days" off beginning at 1:00 p.m. and running until 11:45 p.m., and two others are "short days" off from 6:00 p.m. until 11:45 p.m. The final two breaks include one scheduled Friday or Saturday "overnight" during each session, where they are able to leave at 6:00 p.m. and are not required back at camp until 10:00 a.m. the following day (Sunday), and an additional 24 hour "overnight" that immediately precedes the 2nd and 3rd camp sessions. Cabin Counselors will also have one assigned free period each day that is built into the activity schedule. This time can be used to catch a nap, take a hike, read or plan for an activity or program. The nightly camp curfew is midnight meaning that all counselors and staff are expected to be settled down for the night at this time. Please note that all staff are expected to participate in nightly activities and programs when not scheduled for time-off.
