Smiling camper in climbing gearThe mountaineering program at Ton-A-Wandah is quickly becoming one of our most popular programs, providing campers with a unique way to gain self- reliance, a respect for nature and a special sense of accomplishment. All campers are eligible for the First Year Mountaineering Program, which offers an introduction to outdoor challenges, including day hikes, the high and low ropes courses, rock climbing, mountain biking trips and overnight campouts. Girls get a taste of outdoor living and an opportunity to develop new skills.

The Advanced Mountaineering program is designed for older girls who seek to develop team and leadership skills. High adventure activities include extended backpacking trips, rock climbing, white-water rafting, orienting skills, basic first aid and mountain hiking. These outings are supervised by a highly trained mountaineering staff with expertise in outdoor education and wilderness first aid.

An unparalleled sense of camaraderie and profound connection to the wonders of nature result in an unforgettable experience that unites campers and counselors. Cooking and sleeping in the great outdoors: sharing songs and stories beneath a canopy of stars, building trust and strengthening teams; enhancing self-confidence and encouraging leadership: it's what Ton-A-Wandah's Mountaineering program is all about.
