Ton-A-Wandah is a girls summer camp located in the mountains of Western North Carolina. Our name means “by the fall of water”.

Since 1933, girls ages 6-15 have come to discover Ton-A-Wandah is more than a place; it's a place in your heart.

The Gates Will Be Open Soon

The start of camp is so close we can almost taste it (fried chicken Sunday, s’mores,…yum)! Orientation is drawing to an end, counselors will be moving into their cabins, and we will be counting down the minutes. Remember, the gates open at 8:00 on Sunday morning. To all of our campers and their families, have a safe trip to the mountains, and we’ll see you soon!

Camp Days

The official first day of camp is just over three weeks away, but the camp activities have already begun. On May 12th, Ton-A-Wandah hosted the Henderson County Chamber of Commerce’s 2nd annual Camp Days. The event brings together members of the local business community to help raise awareness of the impact that camps have in Henderson County. A total of 19 teams competed in events familiar to our campers, including archery, riflery, and kayaking. They even got to experience the waterfall, as the day’s events culminated in s’mores and an awards presentation at the fire ring. This first taste of the camp season has us wanting more…it’s a good thing that Opening Day is in our sights!

April Showers

The start of April brought strong spring rains to camp, and May flowers (especially the geraniums) will be making their debut soon. It’s beginning to look a lot like summer around here – now we just need our campers to arrive!

Camper Parties Wind Down

March is generally the last quiet month before the start of camp – soon groups will be back in camp, forms will be rolling in, and before you know it, the first staff will arrive.  We also are having one last round of camper parties this month, hoping to see as many new and returning campers as possible.  Callie was recently in Columbia, and soon we will head to Camden (3/24) and Atlanta (3/31).  If you are in the area and are interested in attending one of the last open houses of the season, give us a call in the office and let us know.  See you soon!

Summer Is On Its Way

While the calendar may say we are still firmly entrenched in winter, these past few glorious days at TAW have us looking forward to summer more than ever. The sun is shining and the mercury is rising, and we have camp on our minds! Parent packets will be going out shortly, so look for those in your mailboxes. The countdown to camp is underway…
